Project Overview
The Getto Transportation Center is a 36,250 SF transportation facility for Washoe County School District, replacing aging infrastructure that had been located in a 100-year floodplain. The new elevated site houses an 8-bay bus maintenance shop, 3-bay fleet vehicle shop, administration building, driver break room, training room, dispatch office, bus wash, fueling stations, and EV charging infrastructure.
Construction was phased across three stages to maintain operational continuity for WCSD's 350+ bus fleet serving 20,000 students daily. The structural system uses steel framing with concrete foundations, designed to support heavy vehicle loads and maintenance equipment throughout the facility.
Paul Waite served as senior design engineer on this project. Palisade Engineering provided construction administration including field observation, RFI response, structural shop drawing review, and structural observation throughout all three construction phases.
