The State Line Runs Through the Lake. Our License Covers Both Sides.
Most firms serve one shore. Because Palisade Engineering carries PE + SE licensure in both Nevada and California, a remodel in Incline Village and a new build in South Lake Tahoe get the same team, the same detailing standards, and the same seal-ready delivery — no subcontracted stamp on the other side of the lake.
And Tahoe is not a place to guess at structure. Basin snow loads are among the heaviest in the country and change with elevation and jurisdiction; roofs shed onto decks, drifts load eaves, and heavy timber wants real connection design. Our portfolio here includes the Tahoe Keys Marina, a ski lodge, a tubing lodge, and custom mountain residences.

What We Engineer Around the Lake
Incline Village to South Lake to Tahoe City — mountain structure is the specialty, not the exception.
Custom Mountain Homes
New lakefront and slope-side residences — heavy timber, steep roofs, tall glass walls, and the snow, wind, and seismic design that mountain architecture demands.
Cabin Remodels & Additions
Opening up mid-century cabins, adding lofts and dormers, and bringing older structures up to current snow and seismic expectations — on both shores.
Ski & Recreation Structures
Our portfolio includes a ski lodge and a tubing lodge — long-span timber, exposed structure, and heavy roof loads built for resort use.
Marinas & Waterfront
The Tahoe Keys Marina is portfolio work: waterfront structure, docks-adjacent buildings, and lakefront property improvements.
Structural Observations
Pre-purchase reviews of Tahoe cabins and homes — snow distress, settlement, framing — with a sealed report. Book the site visit online.
Decks, Snow & Repairs
Deck rebuilds rated for real snow, roof reinforcement, and repair design after heavy winters do what heavy winters do.

Tahoe Code, Snow & Jurisdiction Knowledge
Dual-State PE + SE Licensure
Nevada and California licensure on one team — Incline Village, Crystal Bay, South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, and everything between, without splitting your project at the state line.
Site-Specific Snow Design
Basin snow loads are among the heaviest in the country and vary by elevation and jurisdiction. Every roof, deck, and drift condition is designed to the site's governing load — never a copy-paste number.
TRPA & Local AHJs
TRPA review layers onto Washoe County, City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, and Placer County building departments. We coordinate structure with all of them.
Built-Here Portfolio
Tahoe Keys Marina, ski lodge, tubing lodge, custom forest lodge, and mountain residences — see the portfolio for the snow-country work behind the claims.

Lake Tahoe Structural Engineering — FAQ
Do you cover both the Nevada and California sides of Lake Tahoe?
Yes — and that's the point. Palisade Engineering is PE + SE licensed in Nevada and PE + SE licensed in California, so one team covers Incline Village and Crystal Bay on the Nevada side, and South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, and the West Shore in California. No handoff when your project crosses the state line.
How do you handle Tahoe snow loads?
Tahoe basin projects carry some of the heaviest design snow loads in the country, and the governing load varies by elevation and jurisdiction. We design each project to the site-specific snow load its jurisdiction requires — roof structure, drifting, sliding snow, and deck loads included — rather than a one-size number.
Do you work with TRPA requirements?
Yes. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency adds a coverage- and land-use review layer on top of local building departments. Our structural packages coordinate with TRPA-driven site constraints, and we work alongside your architect and surveyor through that process.
Have you actually built at Tahoe?
Yes — our portfolio includes the Tahoe Keys Marina work in South Lake Tahoe, a ski lodge, a tubing lodge, and custom mountain residences. Snow country detailing — heavy timber, steep roofs, exposed structure — is a specialty, not an exception.
Can you review a Tahoe cabin before I buy it?
Yes. We perform structural observations for Tahoe-area purchases — a licensed engineer observes the structure, reviews snow-related distress, settlement, and framing, and issues a sealed report your lender and agent can act on. Book the site visit online.
Which building departments review Tahoe projects?
Washoe County covers Incline Village and Crystal Bay; the City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County cover the south shore; Placer County covers Tahoe City and the north/west shore. TRPA review applies basin-wide. We work with all of them.
